The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management to support designated geographic regions.


This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, performance management, policy implementation, internal strategy, affirmative action and employment law compliance.


  • Administer human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual
  • Oversee benefits administration to ensure claims are resolved, changes are reported, approve invoices for payment, and benefits information is communicated to employees
  • Maintain and file affirmative action, Vets100, EEO-1, etc. reports annually; ensures Colony NorthStar complies with EEO regulations
  • Maintain company organizational charts and department and sub-department coding and organization in ADP and People Fluent
  • Oversee international Benefits, Pension Plans, regulation, policies and procedures, employee and employer relations. Promote valuable and pragmatic and regulatory suggestions.
  • Recommend new approaches, strategies, policies, and procedures to continually improve efficiency internal departments and performance
  • Maintain human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database weekly
  • Ensures company is compliant with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
  • Manages and tracks all employee disciplinary action
  • Oversee COBRA administration for group health plans
  • Communicate human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations
  • Responsible for employee relations, including counseling and guiding management on strategy
  • Respond to, investigate, and settle employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations and civil rights complaints; schedule and conduct interviews and meetings, advise on strategy and course of action, manage and oversee resolution, update VP, HR on status, and ensure compliance and regulatory standards are met
  • Conduct exit interviews, analyze data and make strategic recommendations to management for corrective action and continuous improvement
  • Represents the company for any unemployment claims
  • Prepare reports on various HR metrics on a regular and ad hoc basis; create data visualizations to make complex data easier to understand; report polished presentation materials to leadership audiences



  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field
  • Minimum 4 years of HR Generalist experience within a large, complex professional services firm (400+ employees); financial services or real estate industry experience heavily preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, including PowerPoint and Excel (i.e. pivot tables, v-lookup, macros, charts & graphs) 
  • Hands-on experience with ADP strongly preferred
  • Extensive management reporting experience, including but not limited to: ability to effectively qualify findings, answer questions, provide strategic foresight, and make recommendations to the C-Suite and upper management
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and consultative skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects while also thriving within a team setting
  • Experience handling highly confidential and complex data sets
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills; proactive with excellent follow through on short and long-term projects
